This collection contains an original receipt and photostats of other records concerning land holdings in Cumberland and Fayette counties possessed by Thomas Lincoln, father of President Abraham Lincoln. The original documents the first installment, $4.43, paid on 200 acres in Cumberland County. There are also photostatic copies of Fayette County records copied by Lucien Beckner. These may have related to another Thomas Lincoln, a man who was an uncle of the president's father. Another photostat is a copy of an 1802 bond to Governor James Garrard, given so Thomas Lincoln could be a constable of Cumberland County. Also present is an undated card with the text of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.
